In September we began using a wonderful new curriculum for our Sunday School in each of the age groups. Concordia Publishing House’s Growing In Christ curriculum provides us with weekly outlines and teacher helps so that we can teach the same Bible stories at every age level, preschool to adult.

In addition, we have modified our Sunday School opening and closing to help reinforce these lessons for the children and their parents as they have a common narrative to review during the following week.

As part of the opening, the children recite the Apostles’ Creed. All of the children are memorizing the Creed this fall and those that are able, should be memorizing Luther’s explanation from the Small Catechism. Children and adults together are also spending three to four weeks learning a new hymn as we sing together during the closing.
