The School Steering Committee is finalizing their task of completing and reporting their results of a feasibility study to the Church Council. When complete, these results will be available to the entire congregation as well. Assuming those results will justify the need and demonstrate a great amount of support from the community, we move ahead with plans for Good Shepherd Lutheran School. Our original plans of calling an administrator this fall are being put on hold for the moment. If anybody is interested in participating on the Board of Christian Education, which will set policy for the school, they should contact Pastor, Jon Hill, or Elmer Rehme. While we did receive a grant from the Southeastern District, we did not receive the additional grant applied for from Synod. Without these additional monies, we do not have sufficient funds to pay a salary and therefore cannot extend a call. Additional good news is that the Carolinas district of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League has adopted Good Shepherd Lutheran School as one of their mission projects for the 2006-2008 triennium. The support from the LWML will be used to buy Christian curriculum materials. God has given us a great vision for Charleston and He will see to it. We move ahead trusting in His mercy as always.
