The Church Council approved a plan to move forward with both church and school at it’s September 26 meeting. This plan involves the acquisition of property. In the short term, Good Shepherd is pursuing an opportunity to use the facilities of one local church that is consolidating with another. The Lord willing, these arrangements, would provide Good Shepherd with a home for about two years and facilities in which we could support a school. The second portion of this plan is to move forward with Church Development Partners (CDP) of Orange, CA in finding land in the West Ashley area. CDP is a not for profit organization that helps congregations of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod acquire property by buying tracts of land larger than needed and then developing a portion for sale in order to reduce or hopefully eliminate a mortgage on the land retained. With the anticipation that this process may take two years or more, the hope of a temporary church and school building lends itself to this process. While we enter these beginning steps, please continue to pray that the Lord would direct the decisions of our congregation and that we might act according to His will. Back |
