Our Pastor

The Rev. Timothy E. Sandeno

Timothy E. Sandeno was born in 1964, in Rochester, Minnesota, to Norman Sandeno and Theresa nee Holtz. He was baptized in a small country parish of Norwegian Lutherans where his great-grandfather was once the pastor.

Pastor Sandeno completed grade school and high school in California. He earned an Associate of Science degree from Heald College, Concord, California in 1984 and in 1989, he graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, earning a Bachelor of Science. Being commissioned an Ensign upon graduation, he began his naval career. He served in Pensacola, Florida; Corpus Christi, Texas; Jacksonville, Florida; Brunswick, Maine; and Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. During his career he has deployed throughout the world. He continues to serve as a Commander in the Naval Reserve.

In 2001, he began his studies at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, earning the degree of Master of Divinity. Pastor Sandeno completed his theological preparation serving as vicar to Grace Lutheran Church in Summerville, South Carolina from 2004 to 2005. There he led the Islands Lutheran Mission in planting Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Charleston, where the weekly public preaching of God’s Word began February 27, 2005.

In April 2005, Grace Lutheran Church called Pastor Sandeno to be mission Pastor to the newly forming Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he has been serving since his ordination and installation on July 30, 2005.

Pastor Sandeno married the former Lisa Ann Trieble of Woodbury, New Jersey, in 1994. Their marriage has been blessed with three children: Victoria Lynne, Gunder Edward, and Gabrielle Elizabeth. The entire family is excited about continuing the work of mission planting and starting a Lutheran day school.
